Asbestos Roof Replacement
Safe, compliant removal of asbestos-cement roofs and replacement with a modern, insulated metal roof system, fully contained and documented.
Asbestos-cement sheeting was used on industrial roofs for decades, and a large number of warehouses and factories across the UK still have it. While sound, undisturbed sheeting can be managed, a degrading or damaged asbestos roof is both a compliance liability and a health risk. Replacement removes that liability for good.
Safe, compliant removal
Asbestos removal is highly regulated, and rightly so. Work must be planned, contained, and carried out by competent operatives following the correct procedures, with waste disposed of through licensed channels and documented throughout.
We plan each removal around containment, controlled access and the safety of everyone on and around the site, including your own staff.
Replacement with a modern roof
Once the asbestos covering is removed, we install a new, fully insulated metal roof system. This is the opportunity to bring an old building up to a modern thermal standard, improving energy efficiency and the working environment underneath.
We can also discuss rooflight provision, gutter renewal and any associated flashings and detailing as part of the same project, so the building is handed back complete.
Planning around your operation
A roof replacement on a working site needs careful sequencing. We phase the work so that areas are opened up, stripped and re-covered in controlled sections, keeping the building weathertight and your operation running wherever possible. On large distribution sites this phased approach is what makes replacement viable without a full shutdown.
Knowing when an asbestos roof needs action
Asbestos-cement sheeting degrades slowly, so the warning signs are easy to miss until the roof is leaking. Surface weathering, moss and lichen growth, cracked or slipped sheets and broken rooflights all point to a covering that is breaking down. A degrading roof also tends to leak, and water tracking through it can carry contamination into the building below. If your roof is showing its age, the safe first step is an assessment so its condition is understood before anyone works on or near it.
Considering overcladding instead?
In some cases, encapsulating a sound asbestos-cement roof beneath an over-roofing system is a safer, lower-cost alternative to removal. We assess each roof individually and give you an honest recommendation.
